We believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, was born of a virgin, is wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose from the grave and ascended into Heaven.  John 1:14, 3:16 Matthew 4,  Luke 4,  Hebrews 4:15,  2 Corinthians 5:21

We believe in the literal, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth. Revelation 19

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God without any error, the sole authority for life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17,  2 Peter 1:20-21

We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image.  Genesis 1:26-27

We believe that mankind fell through the sin of the first man, Adam, and that all men are sinners in need of salvation.  Genesis 3:15, Romans 5:12-15

We believe that salvation is a gift of grace from God, received through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.   Romans 6:23, Titus 3:5,  Ephesians 2:8-9,  John 1:12

We believe that every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.  John 10:28-30,  Ephesians 1:13-14,  Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 10:10,14

We believe that those persons who die without faith in Jesus Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven, through faith in Christ, spend eternity in Heaven.  Revelations 20:14, John 3:16

We believe that water baptism is in obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation.  Romans 6:3-10

We believe that the local church is the local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the head. Ephesians 1:22-23

We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, God’s Word. 1 Timothy 2:5-6,  Hebrews 10:19-26

We believe in the separation of church and state, but not in the separation of God and government. 1 Peter 2:13-17

Pastor Gary has been in full time pastoral ministry since 1982.  He has a God-given gift of conveying God's love in a way that continually points to Jesus Christ.  He received his Doctorate of Theology degree in 1999.  He's known for his warm and engaging style and personality and uses his vocal talent to share the message of Jesus to others.

Colonial Oaks welcomes  a new ministry team member, Minister of Worship, Rev. Lee S. Hixon. Lee, and his wife Julia, have  relocated from Maine to Sarasota. Lee will oversee the  music, youth and drama ministry at COBC. He is experienced in both traditional and contemporary music styles and drama. He brings a wealth of experience with over 25 years of conducting choirs.

Ministries/Admin/Visual Arts

A former Christian school classroom teacher, she received her Master of Religious Education degree in 1993. She and her husband, Dr. Gary Roy, have been married since 1970.  They have two sons, Chris and Bryan and seven grandchildren.

Sheri is  active in visual arts at Colonial Oaks and in developing presentations for church events, logos, themes;  along with  multimedia weekly worship presentations.

HAVING A "SHOCKING" KIND OF LOVE

Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart (give up). 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, ESPECIALLY– to those who are of the household of faith.

After reading this verse, we find every encouragement to keep on “keeping on” and not quit. We are planting for a future harvest that will come to fruition “in due season.” Galatians 6:10, also says, as we have opportunity (when they present themselves) do good to all...especially--at the top of our list--our Christian family and friends.

In John 13:34-35, Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

The depth of our love for other believers reflects Jesus’ love to us. The depth and intensity of our love to other Christians should be “shocking” in comparison with non-believers--just as Jesus’ death on the cross-His ultimate display of love to us—was found shocking by the world.

The world will recognize we are Christians by our love for each other. Three things to remember:

1. Keep on doing good.

Do you really have any other alternative?

2. Doing good to our brothers and sisters in Christ is at the top of our list. Even if some of them just drive you completely bonkers. Love them through the eyes of Jesus—they need it

3. Don’t quit hoeing in the middle of a row, a future harvest is coming. Don’t quit...especially when it seems it would be easiest thing to do. If you give up and “roll over” you will miss the blessings God had for you. I am so glad Jesus didn’t give up on us.

Have a wonderful week. Let God use you!!! The opportunities to “do good” will come. Make it a way of life.

It will sure put the “sparkle” back into your life.
